A little B & J

We try and keep it pretty healthy here at our house. Someone (maybe Maggie? maybe Loni? maybe Jen?) turned me on to the Skinny Cow...actually, I think it might have been Oprah...Anyway...Skinny Cow has a great line of ice cream products that are low in fat but fairly high in taste.

However.

Sometimes you just have to throw the calorie counter out the dang window and buy yourself a pint of Ben & Jerry's. Last night was just such an occasion for me. Grey's season premiere...this is big doings - cause for celebration!

I remember when I was out in Missouri for my freshman year of college, I had dinner at one of my friends parents' house. The discussion turned to dessert, which turned to ice cream and I brought up Ben & Jerry's. The mom looked me right in the eye and told me she didn't like Ben and Jerry's - too creamy. I did all I could to not give her the death stare. I had never heard this statement before. Not like Ben and Jerry's? How could you? Stop it. I lost a little respect for her that day. I mean, really - a couple of spoonfuls will do ya, you don't have to eat the entire pint in one sitting. Too creamy? Pshaw.

My poison of choice last night? Mint cookie.

Got a favorite?

Well Amy, you picked my favorite. Can't get enough of the stuff..... is there such a thing as ice cream being too rich..... i mean who can stand the cheep stuff. My only problem is that I can eat more B&J's in one sitting than they have in one container.......... Can anyone say PROBLEM!!!!! Good Choice on the flovor once again..... Now I am going to have to make a trip to the store to get some B&J's..... For now I will use the excuse, the baby likes it. HA!HA! Have a good one.

I had to go get B&J's for last night too!! I have several faves... phish food, brownie batter, carmel sutra, magic brownies... if i had to pick one it'd be phish food. love it! I also used to love Totally Nuts, which was retired a while ago and was based on the Dilbert cartoon.

Anybody who doesn't like those two boys' ice cream is outskies in my book!

Just finished a pint of mint cookie and am feeling great. It is a good thing I took a 1.5 hour walk this morning. I think I might go to the store and get another this evening. MMMMMMM!!!!

Karamel Sutra is a win for the team...but the core of caramel seems to be getting smaller...and smaller..

Lori if you decide to move and work for B&J you can live with us. The factory is only about 15 minutes away. Apparently the collective weight gain of people that work for B&J is phenomenal. The 3 pints is quite a perk.
I don't if any of you have taken the tour or remember taking the tour but they give you a sample at the end. As the years have gone by the sample has gotten smaller. It is now in the smallest dixie cup ever made. I think I may have taken Zack and Cody there oh so many moons ago. Do you boys recall that? I was living at Knoll Farm and you came over from Franklin to stay with me for a few days. Sound at all familiar?

I must say that I like most ice cream. Of course there is a but after that statement. As much as I love to eat chocolate I do not like chocolate ice cream. I think the last pint of B & J I had was the Stephen Colbert flavor. Last pint of ice cream I had was Haagen Daaz strawberry. Very delicious.

Amy your story about the ice cream being too creamy reminds me of another story. Full of it today aren't I? Back in the early 1980's when I was still working for Green Mtn Coffee B&J used to sell quite a few seconds in selected stores. One of those stores was the store here in Moretown. I can't remember what the flavor was but the problem with this pint was it had too many chunks of whatever it was and almost no ice cream.....you might not think that to be a problem.

I'll never forget my 19th birthday. I spent the afternoon with two of my friends at the Ben and Jerry's factory. We took a tour and got lots of free ice cream. YUMMY. Maybe the best birthday afternoon ever!!!! I would recommend a visit to anyone that has not been- it's fun time. As for favorite ice cream flavor . . . Cherry Garcia by far. I'll eat any of them except Chunky Monkey- banana ice cream is gross!

gardenboy...i've never done the tour with you. :(

we should come over your way one of these weekends and do it though. that's interesting that you like chocolate, but not chocolate ice cream!

tinydancer/beermaker...i can't agree with you on the cherry garcia, because cherries make me gag. but, different strokes. at least you didn't say b&j's was too creamy!

the wisdom's in the trees, not the glass windows - j.j.
