mp3 player

Alright you guys - I've been wanting an mp3 player for some time now. I keep putting it of and putting it off. But it's just getting to be too much of a pain to lug the old cd player and cds along when I travel. I don't know what to get though. Do you have any recommendations? If so, throw them in the comments section.

I'm leaning toward the ipod nano. Good choice?

Well, Jenny and I have both had iPod minis for the past 2 years. I happen to think that they are great, but I haven't had any experience with any other MP3 player. I know that I can take mine basically anywhere. I've got a transmitter for the car, so when one is out here in no man's land with very little in the way of radio station choices, you can still listen to your favorite music.

As many know, I think iPods suck tremendously. First, the first mp3 player I had was an iPod. It sadly died....literally sadly. A little sad face came up on it. Of course, the stupid customer service was of no assistance. Second, Paige and Hanny both got the Nano iPods for Christmas. I cannot say how many times they both have froze up for the girls. Of course, when this happens, they have to reset the stupid things and lose all of their songs. Even Barb, who knows little of mp3 players or technology in general, agrees they suck.

When my iPod died, I did quite a lot of research for a replacement mp3 player. I finally settled on the Creative Zen Micro. Creative has a pretty good reputation, and their models are a lot cheaper because they don't have a stupid little apple symbol on them. I was able to get mine from Walmart for pretty cheap, and I even got a 3 year service plan that covers ANYTHING (even if you break it yourself) for $40. And I'm happy to say I never had to reset my Zen and start from scratch on loading songs.

Look into the Creative line. They have a lot of new products out now and are a lot more affordable. :) :) :)

I bought one of the iPods when they first came out. I think it held 3 songs. Unless they were long songs. Like Led Zep's "Stairway To Heaven". Then it held only one song. Then I bought one that held photos. I really liked that little rascal. Until I cracked the front and could no longer see any of the display. It still works just fine but like I said no display. So I bought another one. It holds plenty of songs and plenty of pictures. I have never had a problem like Mag describes. I agree with Mag that you do pay for the little apple icon. Or is that iCon? Or should it be that Apple cons us...hmmm. Whole other subject I suppose.

I believe Bubba/Jeff also had a customer service problem with Apple???

the problem I had with apple was they wouldn't replace my cracked iPod. My local dealer couldn't detect the crack but apparently they could at apple....weasels.
But that doesn't mean I don't like my iPod.

i'd suggest now that you get some good quality noise-reducing ear buds or head phones...
